Translating plugin language files with Loco Translate by manually translating each string is too slow. This plugin adds "AI Translate" and "Tools" buttons to the Loco editor. It directly connects to the Google Gemini API for batch translation, or you can export strings as JSON, have them translated by your preferred AI/IDE, and then import them back – both routes are available.

Directly connect Gemini, one-click batch translation

Enter your Gemini API key, select a model, and click “AI Translation” in the Loco editor to batch-translate untranslated strings. Prompt templates are customizable (the default already includes dynamic placeholders such as %s and %d), and you have full control over translation quality and terminology style.

JSON Export/Import Workflow

Don't want to pay API fees? "Tools" offers JSON export (you can export only untranslated strings) — hand the file over to ChatGPT, Claude, or an AI within your IDE to translate, then write back to Loco using "Import JSON." Saving the file completes the process. Translation costs for large language files are close to zero.

FAQ

Is the Gemini API paid?

Use your own Google AI API Key, billed according to Google's pricing (with a free tier); if you don't want to integrate with the API, you can also export and import via JSON for zero API costs.

What models are supported?

Model name can be freely filled in (default gemini-1.5-flash), Google can release new models by directly changing the name.

Will it affect the Loco body?

No. Through the official Loco hook integration, a button appears in the editor toolbar, and the translation results are written to the language file you are editing.

What should I do if it's broken?

All results are first written to the editor (unsaved state). Once you're satisfied, press Loco's save button. If you're not satisfied, simply refresh to discard.
